Empowering Women Through Technology
Did you know women outnumber men in the United States 51% to 49%? Women are more likely to shop online than men and more likely to do so using a smartphone or tablet. Women are more active on social media and more likely to frequent classes or workshops when learning about a new device. And yet, the technology industry is consistently dominated by men. You would think the leaders of such technology giants like Apple and Google would be trying to find new ways to corner this untapped market and put it to use.
Working in corporate technology has proven to be as equally frustrating. Sure there are women working in tech, but where are the female leaders and mentors? Where are the corporate ladders for women in IT Departments? In my experience, they are few and far between.
And that’s why I built this site.
This is a safe place dedicated to women who work in technology, with technology or who want to know more about careers in technology.
If you’re looking for advice or maybe a mentor, this is the site for you. If you’re frustrated by technology companies’ lack of female leadership and want to change the conversation, this is the site for you. If you are a female technologist and want to offer some ideas or tips and tricks of how to make it in a male-dominated industry, this is the site for you. And if you’re a company looking for a way to empower your female technologists to speak up and be seen, this is definitely the site for you.
The blonde byte is here to act as a conduit between women, technology, and enterprise and will offer support via blog posts, a podcast, YouTube, and/or personal training.
